What's On | The Wharf Revue Pride in Prejudice

It’s that time! Settle back while The Wharf Revue team reveals its latest policy settings and dips into its Reserve Bank of gags to address the Cost of Laughing crisis when they return to Newcastle’s Civic Theatre on Friday and Saturday, 5 and 6 April.

5-6 APRIL - ON SALE NOW!

Created and written by Jonathan Biggins, Drew Forsythe, and Phillip Scott, The Wharf Revue is Australia's best-loved musical comedy show, and with over twenty-three years of experience in the political satire space, they’re Australia’s most trusted revue-based practitioners. In 2024 they continue the tradition with this year’s hilarious offering: Pride in Prejudice.

Satirical content is up by 7%, and the average laughter quotient is indexed at 8.3% over the forward estimates, but the Wharf Revue defies the cost-of-living pressure by keeping the ticket price at the same level as last year! Take that, Michele Bullock!

“We consult with Costa on the future of the planet, examine our “mutually respectful” relationship with America in the South Pacific, hear the conflicting viewpoints of political puppets on Avenue Q&A, and reveal the nightmare that is the British Royal Family,” says creator Jonathan Biggins.

“We dive into the world of Russian opera, so sadly lacking on our stages, with the tragic story of a flawed hero in Mussorgsky’s unacclaimed masterpiece ‘Raise-Putin’.”

With no jokes written by ChatGPT and no sketches outsourced to PWC, Pride in Prejudice is completely gluten-free, suitable for the lactose intolerant and no animals were harmed during the production process. See the new show Pride in Prejudice at the Civic Theatre Newcastle on Friday, 5 April 2024, at 7.30pm or Saturday, 6 April 2024, at 2pm and 7.30pm. Tickets are online at www.civictheatrenewcastle.com.au.
