intouch Magazine

The countdown to the Newcastle Fringe Festival is on, with only six weeks to go until showtime! From 14 to 24 March, our vibrant city will come alive with the magic of the Fringe

Festival, showcasing 82 acts, 220 shows, and over 450 artists across a diverse range of genres, including comedy, music, burlesque, cabaret, theatre, kids' shows, and our annual Choir Day Spectacular.

This year's festival promises to be an immersive experience, transforming the city into a haven for creativity and expression. With a lineup that spans the spectrum of performing arts, Newcastle Fringe is set to be an avant-garde explosion of talent that will captivate audiences of all ages.

Comedy lovers can expect belly laughs from top-notch Australian and international comedians, with appearances from Northern Irish colossus Micky Bartlett, the multi-talented NYC writer, podcaster, and comedian Kaytlin Bailey, returning Newcastle Fringe 2023 award-winner Kelly Mac, and local legend Eddy Rockefeller plus so many more!

The burlesque and cabaret acts promise to dazzle with their mesmerising performances, pushing boundaries and celebrating the art of expression. Expect cheeky, naughty and not-to-be-missed shows from Fringe favourites like Red Light Confidential and Michael Wheatley, and new shows that will leave you in stitches and awe like the outrageous adults-only drag/puppet extra-terrestrial extravaganza ‘They came from Uranus’!

Theatre and dance aficionados will be delighted by the diverse range of thought-provoking and entertaining productions,

including a traditional African dance troupe all the way from Burundi, giving us the joyful ‘Agasimbo’. Families can enjoy various kid-friendly shows that promise to captivate the imaginations of the youngest festival-goers.

An annual favourite and regular sell-out, the Choir Day spectacular is set to be a harmonious celebration, showcasing the power of collective voices in an unforgettable performance.

Newcastle Fringe is not just a series of events; it's an opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of artistic expression. The festival encourages attendees to explore the city, discover hidden gems, and connect with fellow art enthusiasts.
