What's Happening at the HISS?

Hunter Ice Skating Stadium offers a variety of programs to help bring all your skating dreams to life.

The Learn to Play Ice Hockey program has been developed by players who have represented Australia at the International Ice Hockey World Championships. With competitions run all year round and weekly social drop-in games, there are lots of opportunities to grow and play with others looking to join this fast and exciting sport. Learn to Play is run Monday nights from 5:45pm during the school term.

Hunter Ice Skating Stadium offers birthday party packages that will make your child's birthday the coolest place to be in Newcastle – without the stress, mess, and clean-up! With four dedicated party rooms that can be booked for 8+ children to attend, packages include skate hire, decorations, food, drinks, and the cake, starting from just $34pp.

The Newcastle Northstars have ended their season in second place, appearing in their 8th Grand Final. There was nothing but pride for everything the team accomplished in 2022, and this was on display at the end-of-season presentation night.

"Huge credit goes to Garry and Leanne to keep us going through the last few years; they've done an awesome job and put in a tireless effort to keep it all together and bring it back, and to see it come back with such a huge bang was just awesome to see," said Captain Liam Manwarring.

Award recipients this year included Liam Manwarring – Australian Player of the Year, Mackenzie Gallagher – Most Improved Player, Paddy Ward – Most Dedicated Player, Ethan Hawes – Best Defensive Player, Tim Stanger – Coach's Award, and Francis Drolet – Most Valuable Player.

Head along to Hunter Ice Skating Stadium during these school holidays, discover your love of winter sport and fall in love with the coolest place in town.
