Howlin Country Festival has announced its first wave of artists, with seven-time GRAMMY-nominee and Americana Music Award winner Tyler Childers (USA) headlining the highly anticipated all-ages event on Saturday, 15 February 2025, at the picturesque Newcastle Foreshore.

This brand-new event is hopeful to become a highlight on the Australian music calendar, bringing together a stellar lineup of country music talent.

Hailing from Kentucky, USA, Tyler Childers is known for his soulful voice and evocative songwriting, which blends traditional country sounds with modern storytelling, earning him a devoted following and critical acclaim. Joining him on the lineup is the versatile and authentic Brad Cox and the harmonious Sons of the East, both known for their electric live performances and strong fan followings. Also performing will be the talented Taylor Moss, and rising star from Newcastle Austin Mackay, set to showcase his unique blend of folk and country. Adding a different flavour to the event, the Cheap Whiskey DJs will be spinning tracks that bridge the gap between traditional and modern sounds.

Howlin Country promoter Greg 'Moe' Mathew says he is thrilled to bring the country to the coast.

“I am originally from a farm at Wagga Wagga, and that’s what made me fall in love with Newcastle. Newcastle will always have a strong connection to the country, and it feels like a big country town with a beach,” he said.

“It’s about time Newcastle had an event celebrating that connection. We hope that as Howlin develops its identity, it will provide a unique experience and day out for local country fans of all ages to introduce their friends to a genre that’s exploding globally.”

As an all-ages event, Howlin' Country Festival is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for families, friends, and music enthusiasts to come together and enjoy a day of live performances. With more artists to be announced, the festival has also released its Local Howlers program, where promoters are seeking out local artists of all ages to register to take part in the event.
