Skate Away at Hunter Ice Skating Stadium

intouch Magazine

Are you looking for something different to do this weekend? Why not drop into Hunter Ice Skating Stadium at Warners Bay and enter a whole new world of frozen fun? Hunter Ice Skating Stadium offers something new for everyone. The Learn to Skate and Learn to Play programs are available for all ages, and whether you’re an experienced skater seeking more ice time to practice your skills or have never been ice skating before, everyone of all levels of experience is welcome!

If you’re still finding your feet on the ice, skating frames are available to help you build your confidence as you develop your skating skills. Hire skates are included in sizes ranging from a child size 9 through to an adult size 15 to use and learn with. Of course, if you have your own skates, bring them along and save on skate hire!

On Friday nights the main lights are switched off, and the disco effects cranked up with Top 40 hits playing on the sound system and on the big screens at centre ice. Running from 7pm-10pm, it’s the coolest fun you can have on a Friday night!

With a café inside the rink, a wide range of refreshments are available for you to enjoy. From hot chips and hot dogs to spring rolls and pulled pork burgers, as well as hot and cold beverages. Every taste is catered for, and spectators can enter for free and sit back with a hot coffee in the heated café.

You don’t need to worry about your belongings while you’re on the ice, as there are lockers on site to give you peace of mind and security for your belongings, starting at $3 for 2 hours. For up-to-date public skate session times, visit www.hiss.com.au.

The 2023 season has begun for the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium’s home team in the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) – the Newcastle Northstars. The Northstars’ campaign launched on 15 and 16 April with a doubleheader in Melbourne. The Northstars home opener is scheduled for 7 May, and the team will be joined by players fresh from their international championships. You can book your tickets now for Newcastle Northstars home games online at www.northstars.thundertix.com.
