Singing Support for Women's Community Shelters
Hummingsong Community Choirs will present Newcastle’s own sisterhood of song, Sundara and Meraki choirs, at Hunter Theatre on Wednesday, 14 December, in support of local women’s community shelters through Nova for Women and Children.
Hummingsong Community Choirs are a network of 17 women’s choirs, with over 850 members, situated across locations within Sydney, Central Coast, Newcastle and Melbourne. Founded by Artistic Director Anna Humberstone in 2012, the choirs offer women a vibrant opportunity to sing for fun and nourish their souls.
Committed to raising both awareness and funds for women and children escaping domestic violence, the choirs raise funds through events and concerts and, in recent years, have raised over $300,000 for women’s refugees.
The choirs have been supported through the generosity of the Hunter School of Performing Arts (HSPA), which has assisted with the venue, set up and ticketing. Tickets are available from www. trybooking.com/cdmen and are $20/adult and $15/concession.
