Prepare to defy convention and embark on a musical journey like no other with School of Rock: The Musical at Civic Theatre Newcastle from 18 to 20 July.

This electrifying stage adaptation of the beloved film, featuring the same infectious energy, uproarious humour, and heart-warming moments, is a one-of-a-kind experience that will have you on your feet, craving for more.

The show follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?

Led by a cast of talented young actors who play their own instruments live on stage and supported by some of Newcastle’s best professional performers, this high-octane musical extravaganza promises a night of pure rock ‘n’ roll magic.

Directed by Lauren Harvey, part of the creative team for Billy Elliot the Musical and Aspire, with musical direction by ARIA nominee Dan Wilson, the show is based on the book by Julian Fellowes with lyrics by Glenn Slater. The iconic Lloyd Webber score has 14 new songs created for the West End and Broadway productions, as well as the original songs from the movie, some of which are becoming rock-solid standards guaranteed to bring audiences to their feet.

“Get ready to rock your socks off,” Director Lauren Harvey said.

“School of Rock is a celebration of passion, talent, and the universal language of music. Our crew has poured their hearts and souls into this show, and our cast will deliver powerhouse performances that will leave audiences cheering for more.”

So grab your air guitar, unleash your inner rock god, and get ready to be blown away by the exhilarating spectacle of ‘School of Rock: The Musical.’ It’s a show that proves that when you follow your passion, anything is possible!
