Rock Legends Unite to Deliver Greatest Aussie Classics
The highly decorated Dave Gleeson (The Screaming Jets/The Angels) will join forces with Aria Hall of Famer and Multi-award winner Russell Morris and music giants Jack Jones (Southern Sons) and Rai Thistlethwayte (Thirsty Merc/Joe Satriani/Sammy Hagar) to perform their biggest hits together on stage as the Caprettos get back together and on the road this October.
Appearing as The Fabulous Caprettos, the four will perform together on stage for the entire concert, combining their unique musical virtuosities and stage presence to reimagine some of Australian rock music history’s most memorable moments from the 60s to the present day, plus new songs and surprises.
Dave Gleeson is a rock legend whose powerful vocals and charismatic stage presence have left an indelible mark on the Australian music scene. Born with an innate passion for rock and roll, Gleeson rose to prominence as a founding member of the renowned band The Screaming Jets. He has also stepped into the role of frontman for another iconic Australian band, The Angels and made his mark in radio hosting the popular radio show 'Dave Gleeson Nights' on the Triple M Network.
An iconic Australian singer-songwriter renowned for his distinctive voice and versatile musical talent, Morris began his music career in the 1960s. The release of his album Sharkmouth in 2012 earned widespread acclaim and numerous awards, including the ARIA Award for Best Blues and Roots Album.
“The group’s name comes from a band in-joke,” explains Russell.
“Someone jokingly referred to us as the “greatest of all time” or GOAT, but we didn’t want to appear egotistical. So, we replaced the acronym with the Italian word for goat—capretto.”
The four friends will play a selection of their favourite songs, including Russell Morris’ spirit of the 60s anthems, The Real Thing and Sweet Sweet Love, Southern Sons hits Hold Me in Your Arms, Always and Ever, Heart of Danger, Thirsty Merc pop songs, In the Summertime, 20 Good Reasons, Mousetrap Heart, and Someday, Someday and Screaming Jets rock anthems such as Better, C’Mon and Shivers.
“The boys and I love playing together as The Fabulous Caprettos,” says Russell.
“It breathes new life into all our hit songs when we play them together.”
