Now in its 34th year, the NSW Tourism Awards celebrate businesses and operators that deliver exceptional visitor experiences across NSW while also highlighting the strength, pride, and passion that drive our state’s vibrant tourism industry.
About the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary
The Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary is a partnership between Port Stephens Council, the NSW Government, and a local volunteer care group known as Port Stephens Koala Hospital. The Sanctuary’s focus is on conservation and protecting the threatened species so that future generations can enjoy witnessing koalas in the wild.
A decade ago, we counted thousands of koalas in this region, but today, their population numbers are in the hundreds. Ongoing financial support is vitally important to support population growth in the species.
