It's time to say "YES!" to the joyfilled, romantic musical which has Australian audiences buzzing.

The award-winning team from Hunter Drama is weaving its magic again during these school holidays when it brings to life the delightful tale of The Wedding Singer.

Based on the Hollywood hit movie starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore comes this hilarious musical comedy celebrating all the fun of the '80s.

The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room.

Following sold-out performances on Broadway and across the UK, The Wedding Singer features your favourite characters and a sparkling new soundtrack, which does for the 80s what Hairspray did for the 60s.

It's 1985, and rock star wannabe, Robbie Hart, is New Jersey's most in-demand wedding singer. He's the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him standing at the altar. Bitter and broken, Robbie's grief turns him into the worst wedding singer imaginable. He makes every wedding as disastrous as his own until Julia, a warm-hearted waitress, intervenes. Julia dreams of her own perfect wedding, but the trouble is she's about to be married to a rich, shallow Wall Street shark. Can Robbie pull off the gig of his life and win the heart of the girl of his dreams?

Hunter Drama has assembled a stellar cast of 24 young 'triple threats', ranging in age from 14 to 23, to bring this romantic comedy to life on the Playhouse stage in Newcastle. The all-female creative team is led by Director and Musical Director Alison Hodge, and CONDA Award-winning Choreographer Rachel Wilson, with Assistant Director Jessie Edmonds, Assistant Musical Director Tahlia Smith, and Assistant Choreographer Isabella Parker rounding out the team.

Don't miss this joy-filled production at The Playhouse for eight performances from 14 April. The season must end on 22 April, so book your tickets now through Civic Theatre Ticket Office: www.civictheatrenewcastle.com.au or phone 02 4929 1977.
