Over $420,000 grant to get women and girls into sport in Northern NSW

Women and girls right around Northern NSW will find it easier and more enjoyable to play sport as a result of a $423,850 grant to Northern NSW Football Limited.

 

Northern NSW Football Limited was selected to receive the funding under the Australian Government’s $200 mi


llion Play Our Way program, which is designed to remove barriers to women and girls participating in sport and physical activity.

 

It will use the money for their Women in Football Scholarship and Participation Program which offers education and development opportunities for women, with the aim of diversifying and strengthening voices in football.

 

Northern NSW Football will use the money for their Women in Football Scholarship and Participation Programs, including First Nations, Culturally And Linguistically Diverse and disability participants, which offer education and development opportunities for women and girls, with the aim of diversifying, developing, and strengthening voices in football.

 

More than 660 applications for funding were received. Funding is being offered to initiatives nationwide, with a focus on women and girls who face additional barriers to participation. This includes First Nations women and girls, women and girls with disability or who are from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

 

Assessment of applications under the facilities stream of the Play Our Way Grant Program to support construction of new and modified sporting facilities, playing areas and spaces, is still in progress.
