Outstanding Student Athletes Recognised at Hunter Awards

The Hunter Sports Association Blues Awards will be presented at the Murrook Cultural Centre, Williamtown, on Wednesday 6th December (1pm – 2pm).

 

This ceremony celebrates the year’s high performing students, and is part of the School Sport Pathway.

 

Bob Harrison, the Executive Officer of the Hunter Schools Sports Association, said recognition of the students’ efforts encourages their personal sporting and other development, and can inspire other students.

 

“Achieving at the elite sports level is rewarding in itself, but also teaches the kind commitment that will serve students in the future, no matter where it might take them.”

 

At the ceremony* 26 students will receive Hunter Sporting Blues, the highest sports award available to Hunter students.

 

In addition five students will receive special awards:

 

·         Merv Cotterill Award – Nathan Lewsam – Cardiff High School - diving 

·         Sportswoman of the Year – Chloe Walandouw – Hunter Sports High School - football

·         Sportsman of the Year – Taimana Elers – Hunter Sports High School - touch

·         Premier’s Sporting Challenge Multi Class – Ned Sutherland – Rutherford Technology High School - athletics

·         Premier’s Sporting Challenge – Amy Squires – Tomaree High School - golf
