Opera Hunter's La Boheme

Clockwise from Top Left: Joshua Oxley, Galatea Kneath, Adrian Li Donni and Ian Fisher.

Opera Hunter’s production of Puccini’s masterpiece La Boheme will take the stage from 9 to 17 June at the Warners Bay Theatre. With two tenor leads, Joshua Oxley and Adrian Li Donni singing Rodolfo, sopranos Ashlee Woodgate and Tessa Hayward playing Mimi, and sopranos Galatea Kneath and Sheridan Oxley singing Musetta, this opera will dazzle with the sheer talent on-stage.

The other roles will be sung by Tristan Entwistle (Marcello), James Walker (Schaunard), Ian Fisher (Colline) and Malcolm Young (Benoit and Alcindoro).

Sydney-based Joshua Oxley has played many of the tenor roles in the operatic repertoire, and Hunter audiences will remember his exemplary performance as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni. He has toured NSW, Victoria and South Australia with Opera Australia and is the tenor soloist for St Andrew’s Cathedral. Amongst his many competition successes are the Joan Carden Award, Opera and Arts Support Scholarship and the Ronald Dowd Memorial Prize.

Ashlee Woodgate partners Joshua as Mimi. Ashlee won a CONDA nomination for her performance of Violetta in Opera Hunter’s La Traviata last year and is remembered for exceptional performances for Opera Hunter as Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro. Her many roles include Nedda from Pagliacci, Pamina in The Magic Flute, and Fiordiligi in Cosi van Tutti. Ashlee made her New York debut at Carnegie Hall in 2018.

Hunter-born Galatea Kneath will play Musetta. She has just returned from a month of performing and studying in England after being awarded the George Henderson Travel Scholarship. She graduated from Sydney Conservatorium in 2022 and has returned there to study for a Master of Music with Dr Rowena Cowley.

Baritone Ian Fisher plays Colline. Ian has over 30 years of experience in opera, recitals and oratorio. He has performed many times for Opera Queensland and Opera Australia and runs a bustling vocal studio in Gorokan, teaching classical and contemporary vocal techniques.

Performance dates are Friday 9, Saturday 10, Sunday 11, Wednesday 14, Friday 16, and Saturday 17 June, with three matinees and three evening performances. Tickets can be purchased from sticky tickets and www.operahunter.org.au.
