Newcastle Northstars Charge Forward with a 3-0 Victory Over Rhinos
The Newcastle Northstars demonstrated their dominance on the ice last night, securing an impressive 3-0 win against the Central Coast Rhinos at Hunter Ice Skating Stadium.
With an impressive performance in the first period, the Northstars took an early lead with goals from Francis Drolet and Daniel Berno. This solid start gave the home team a 2-0 advantage heading into the break.
The second period saw both teams battling it out without any goals being scored, with the Northstars maintaining their lead. As the third period drew to a close, Patrick Nadin added another goal for Newcastle with just under 5 minutes remaining, solidifying the final score at 3-0.
“I think we played, for the most part, very well. They’ve got a good goalie, but every team we come up against from now on is going to have a good goaltender,” said Captain Liam Manwarring.
“Our destiny is all in our hands, and it’s decided by no one else but us, and that’s dedication. I put that down to the hard work we’ve done so far this year.”
“The reality of the situation is we have to take care of our business and keep getting our game in the right spot. The detail and the structure were there for the most part tonight,” added Head Coach Kevin Noble.
“We’ve done our work to give ourselves the ability to hold all the cards in our hands. Nobody wants it easy, and I thought tonight the Rhinos did a good job of coming and playing hard, giving us a good hockey game. We had to fight through and find a way, and I thought we did that. We’ll keep going with our process here and worry about ourselves now. That’s all we can do; we’ve got to take care of our business and focus on the Rhinos next weekend.”
The Newcastle Northstars will be travelling to Erina Ice Arena this Sunday, 4 August, to face the Central Coast Rhinos again at 3:30pm.
