Hunter junior footballers have a special opportunity to see their heroes live at the upcoming Matildas versus USA series thanks to a $5 ticket offer from Football Australia.

All registered junior football players 12 years and under can purchase the discounted tickets with an accompanying paying adult or concession holder.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Taylor Martin said this was a once in a lifetime opportunity for Hunter junior football fanatics to see the world’s number one ranked women’s team live in Sydney and Newcastle.

“Football is a popular club-based participation sport not just in the Hunter but across Australia,” Mr Martin said.

“The U.S. Women’s National Team are the current FIFA Women’s World Cup Champions and number one ranked women’s team in the world and with COVID restrictions lifting, this is an amazing opportunity for local football fanatics to witness some of the best players in world football in action.”

Minister for Sport Natalie Ward said the blockbuster series was a taste of what’s to come ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023TM.

“The Matildas are one of our most popular and successful national sporting teams,” Mrs Ward said.

“This series is an opportunity for Australian football fans to witness what’s ahead at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023TM.

“So, grab your tickets, get out your Matildas jersey and scarf and let’s show the USA who’s going to win the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023.”

Football Australia CEO James Johnson said providing an occasion for the next generation of footballers to see their heroes live was essential for the game’s future.

“These players are not only some of the best in the world at what they do on the pitch but are also an inspiration off the pitch as well,” Mr Johnson said.

Australia will host the USA on home soil for the first time in 21 years at Sydney’s Stadium Australia on Saturday 27 November, with a second matchup scheduled for McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle on Tuesday 30 November.

If you are a junior participant in NSW, please check your email inbox for an email from either Football NSW or Northern NSW Football with all the details for the exclusive $5 junior participant offer.

Otherwise, tickets are available from Ticketek for Stadium Australia, Sydney or Ticketmaster for McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle.
