Jenny's Place Benefits from Inaugural Gala

The McCloy Family Foundation recently announced their first Charity Gala, to be held this September, focusing on raising funds and awareness for local domestic violence support service Jenny’s Place.

The Family Foundation was established by Hunter-based development group McCloy Group with a mission to support Hunter communities to build for a stronger future.

The inaugural Gala event will be held on Friday, 9 September, at Merewether Surfhouse and includes a premium food and beverage package including major auction items, raffle prizes, live music and entertainment.

With tickets selling out in record time, McCloy Family Foundation CEO Hayley Van de Stadt said she was delighted that, with all event overheads being covered by the McCloy Group, 100 per cent of ticket sales and earnings on the night would go directly to Jenny’s Place.

Jenny’s Place was selected as the 2022 charity partner for their life-changing work amongst women and children in our community. They have provided relief and support to those who are experiencing domestic violence or homelessness since they established their first women’s refuge in Newcastle in 1977.

Their dedicated team supports more than 1,200 women each year. They are committed to keeping women and children in our community safe, housed and free from violence and aim to help their clients break the cycle of violence and live secure lives.

“Domestic violence is a serious issue in Australia and the Hunter region. Too many women continue to lose their lives to their intimate partners each year. Thousands more live in fear in violent relationships,” says Executive Manager Marcia Chapman.

“We are honoured to be the charity partner for the McCloy Family Foundation’s first Gala event,” Ms Chapman added.

“The funds will enable our early intervention and prevention services to be delivered through the Newcastle Domestic Violence Resource Centre. They will also contribute to supporting children in our care with counselling when they need it most and raise awareness in the community about Jenny’s Place services.”
