International Women’s Day Scholarships closing soon
Time is running out for local women to apply for an International Women’s Day Scholarship to help them reach an important goal in 2022.
East Ward Councillor Leah Anderson said 3 $1000 scholarships have been made available as part of Port Stephens Council’s annual International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrations.
“International Women’s Day is a chance for us to join voices with people around the globe to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, to raise awareness about bias and to take action for equality,” Cr Anderson said.
“Right here in our own backyard, there are women doing incredible things within our community that help to make Port Stephens an inclusive and supportive place to live.
“Our IWD scholarships are aimed at giving local women a helping hand to reach an important goal, so that they can continue to make a difference and have their voices heard.
“I encourage all women who have an idea, and who need a little financial support to get it off the ground, to apply for one of these scholarships. But hurry, because time is running out.”
IWD Scholarships are open to women aged 16 years and over.
Applications close 5pm Sunday 13 February and winners will be announced on International Women’s Day on Tuesday 8 March.
