Inclusive Party “Screamin' Gay” Celebrates Milestone Third Birthday During International Pride Month

Newcastle, 20 June 2024 – Join us this Saturday night for a celebration like no other as Screamin' Gay marks its third fabulous year! Hosted by Newcastle Pride at The Lass O'Gowrie Hotel, this event promises to warm up June and light up International Pride Month in honour of the iconic Glenda Jackson.

Time: Doors open at 7PM, DJ starts at 8PM

The event will be hosted by the sensational She_Needa, featuring performances by local drag performers Aella Stone, Beverley Fabulosity, Kandii Rhinestone, Nova Hudson, and Sticky Waffles.

With June being International Pride Month, it is set to be one unforgettable night of celebration, featuring a talented lineup of DJ’s including Felix da Kitty, Lisa Anita, and Tiff.

For three years, Screamin' Gay has been a pioneering monthly event, bringing an inclusive and vibrant party atmosphere to Newcastle. This groundbreaking event, the first of its kind in the city, continues to thrive as a safe haven for the LGBTQIA+ community, celebrating diversity and promoting unity.

This month, Newcastle Pride are dedicating the celebration to the legendary Glenda Jackson, a local drag icon who began her illustrious career on the stages of Newcastle in the 1970s. Glenda's legacy, which has inspired countless performers and fans, will be honoured throughout the night.

Lee-Anne McDougall, Founder and President of Newcastle Pride says, “Glenda’s recent passing on May 27, 2024, left a profound impact on the community, and we are proud to celebrate her life and contributions during this special event.”

All proceeds from Screamin' Gay go directly to the annual Newcastle Pride Festival and free youth events. Newcastle Pride is a registered charity dedicated to fostering a safe and happy environment for Newcastle's LGBTQIA+ community.
