Immersive Light Show Set to Shine

On 15 April, Longworth Park at Karuah will transform into an immersive nighttime experience of neon lights and a laser light show on the water in collaboration with Karuah’s community.

Alongside live music, food trucks and children’s entertainment, the unique event offers a fresh perspective on Karuah and is sure to dazzle locals and visitors. The experience will activate the riverside precinct and be an excellent opportunity for Karuah to have its moment in the limelight.

It’s the first event of its kind for Karuah and fulfils some of the actions outlined in the Council’s newly adopted Karuah Place Plan, such as advocating for local events and showcasing Karuah’s cultural heritage.

The artistic concept behind Karuah by Night was inspired by the town’s rich indigenous history and stunning natural environment.

“We’re proud to have collaborated with the local community to curate an impactful collection of light and sensory elements that will give visitors an immersive and culturally rich experience,” said Mayor Ryan Palmer.

“It will be a fantastic opportunity for people to learn more about Karuah’s historical and cultural significance within Port Stephens.”

Neon installations of marine life will come to life in a kaleidoscope of colour along the foreshore, and the evening will culminate with a spectacular light show over the water, incorporating laser lights, smoke and special effects.

"Karuah by Night will also be a great drawcard for visitors, and we’re hoping to see people from across Port Stephens and beyond come along and enjoy experiencing Karuah in a different light."
