This year’s netball season is already off to a strong start, as thousands of players across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie netball associations have received a boost in funding from local customer-owned organisation Greater Bank.
Charlestown, Lakeside, Westlakes, Callaghan and District, and Newcastle Netball associations have all received sponsorship which will support the thousands of netball players throughout the region.
Among the clubs set to receive a boost is Hunter Netball, a grouping of 13 Hunter Netball Associations that offers pre-elite athletes a pathway from grass-roots clubs across the region to compete in the Netball NSW Metro League Competition, held at Netball Central in Homebush.
Hunter Netball Chair Jodi Cassar PSM said the association is committed to the performance of its players and coaches this season.
“This year, we are look forward to demonstrating our strong on-court performance as we climb back through the divisions, which means investing in our coaches who encourage and inspire our players,” Ms Cassar said.
“We are excited to provide our Training Partners and Future Partners Programs for our coaches this year, which hone specialist skills throughout the season.
“We are really grateful to Greater Bank for their support, which allows us to provide indoor training venues and equipment for our athletes who play their netball in the indoor facilities of Netball Central.
Greater Bank Lending Manager Emma Dumbrill said netball brings a touching display of Newcastle’s community spirit to the cooler months.
“We are really proud to support the local netball associations that bring our community together for good,” Miss Dumbrill said.
“It’s great to see people come together to cheer along their family and friends from the sidelines – its great to see our sense of spirit come to life!
“It’s going to be another brilliant season, and we hope everyone has a fun year.”
