Musicians, artists and other creatives will get a chance to hone their professional development as part of Lake Macquarie City Council’s Live and Local program.

Council will host a free day of workshops on Saturday 15 March at Warners Bay Theatre, baramayiba, aimed at improving their branding and networking skills.

A morning ‘Creatives Guide to Branding’ workshop will teach participants about the importance of personal and professional branding in the creative industries, while an afternoon session will cover ‘Networking Tips for Creatives’.

Over lunch, attendees will also hear first-hand about the rise of the Cementa Festival, a biennial arts and culture festival held in regional NSW, from its Co-founder Alex Wisser.

Council’s Manager Arts, Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley said the workshops would be delivered by Creative Plus Business, a social enterprise dedicated to educating creating people and arts organisations about business skills.

“The Lake Macquarie Live and Local program is designed to showcase, support and celebrate the unique mix of local musicians and bands in our region,” she said.

“It’s also an opportunity to further activate local performance spaces and help us develop better regulation and strategic policy for live music in Lake Mac.”

Live and Local is presented by Lake Macquarie City Council in partnership with the Live Music Office, OneMusic Australia and APRA AMCOS. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Music Australia.

Creatives are encouraged to register for one workshop or take advantage of the full day’s program. Go to arts.lakemac.com.au for more information and bookings.
