Wharf Revue

The nation’s comedy heavyweights are heading to Cessnock this February and March, with the WHARF REVUE and FIONA O’LOUGHLIN set to perform their only Hunter region shows – on Saturday 19 February and Tuesday 29 March respectively – at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre (CPAC).

The much-loved WHARF REVUE will make its Cessnock debut in their newly independent iteration CAN OF WORMS. It’ll be all hands on deck for a daring adventure as they navigate the dire Straits of Covid, sail round the treacherous Horn of Scomo, steer well clear of the empty Cape of Pauline, only to be becalmed in the Nationals Bermuda Jacket Triangle before stumbling across a New World, filled with hope and promise! Or not.

Join the regular crew of creatives Jonathan Biggins, Drew Forsythe and Phil Scott - along with their figurehead of talent Mandy Bishop - as they bravely voyage to the bottom of the barrel. Expect a pitch-perfect concoction of sketches, songs and razor-sharp satire.

A master storyteller, FIONA O’LOUGHLIN takes to the stage for one night only on Tuesday 29 March from 8pm. Fiona has overcome a well-documented ‘battle with the bottle’; this, like the other aspects of her life, has become ‘material’ for her stand-up. And Fiona is even funnier sober. As well as a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, Fiona O’Loughlin is an accomplished writer, TV presenter and media personality.

In her unique and hilarious fashion, she tackles the topic of what it’s like to be a baby boomer – it’s a no holds barred romp! Fiona addresses the challenges and consequences of trying to get along with the silent generation, Gen Y and the millennials. She also joyfully recounts her time on 2018 I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, which saw her crowned the Queen of the Jungle.

CPAC’s Curator of Performing and Creative Arts Dr Vicki Sienczuk says it’s been quite the coup to secure both the Wharf Revue and Fiona O’Loughlin in their only shows in the region.

“We’re so excited to have these comedy legends heading exclusively to CPAC in 2022. It’s the perfect excuse to get out and have a laugh after what has been a crazy couple of years!”

Tickets are on sale at the CPAC Box Office, by phone on 4993 4266 or online at cessnockperformingartscentre.com.au
