A Sense of Community at Wallsend

intouch Magazine

This month's Wallsend Town Business Association focus is on ears, eyes and feet! In keeping with the concept that Wallsend has everything that is required for modern living, the businesses that help support the health of the local population offer vital services.

Ears and possible hearing problems are well catered for in Wallsend. There are big companies like Bloom Hearing and government organisations such as Hearing Australia, but the local, family-owned business, Local Hearing Aid Specialists Wallsend, is the only independent ear specialist.

Trish Humphries, Owner and Senior Audiometrist of Local Hearing Aid Specialists, believes that her independence is important in offering customer care.

"Unlike some larger companies, we aren't hampered by big budgets, targets or brand exclusivity and can provide any product or brand that helps our customers. We operate out of Wallsend because we live locally and love our community.

We are heavily invested in supporting local sports groups and the local men's shed."

When it comes to feet, you can make them beautiful with Pearl Nails or get expert treatment for podiatry care at Mather Podiatry.

Damian Mather was drawn to the town. "I opened in Wallsend in 2007. I was attracted then, as I am now, to the friendly and strong sense of community here. Wallsend feels more like a country town than a suburb. Our team of podiatrists are proud to play their part in keeping the suburb on its feet - literally!"

Eye Care Plus and Eye Max Eye Care are the local eye care businesses. Max Guernier, Owner and Optical Dispenser of Eye Max Eye Care, has operated out of Wallsend since 2009 and loves the country feel of the town.

"The down-to-earth people and the old-world charm of the main street reflects our country values of an honest job with an honest product."

Whether it's ears, eyes or feet, Wallsend has the expertise to take care of locals or those from further afield. For more information about Wallsend Town businesses, visit www.wallsendtown.com.au
