Celebrate the launch of this year's program with a special evening event at the Playhouse featuring Christos Tsiolkas on February 20th. The award-winning writer will discuss his ambitious new novel Damascus and the power of conversion, as well as the themes and ideas that have obsessed him as a writer: power, doubt, religion, masculinity, colonisation and refugees. The event will be facilitated by Ailsa Piper. Festival programs will also be available. Tickets are $25 and are now on sale here. Tickets for the festival will go on sale at 9am on February 21 – visit www.newcastlewritersfestival.org.au
